Over the past year and a half Lucie and I have been exploring where God is calling us as a family and just before Christmas I was selected to train to become a vicar. We are really excited about this next step in our lives and ministry but it is with great sadness that we will be leaving Wellington. I will be finishing my job as Music Outreach Minister at All Saints at the end of April and we plan to spend the summer travelling before moving to Bristol to begin training at Trinity College in September. This means that ‘All Saints Live’ will also be finishing, at least in it’s current form and scope, after Easter. We have no further concerts booked and the Open Mic on March 18th will be the final Open Mic Night.
All Saints Live was set up in September 2007 to promote All Saints as live music venue. The original vision was to have to have “regular evenings with top worship leaders and Christian musicians alongside concerts in all sorts of musical styles”. Over the last 3 ½ years we have hosted around 50 events including well known Christian musicians (Graham Kendrick, Stuart Townend, Robin Mark, Geraldine Latty, Cathy Burton, Dan Wheeler, Paul Field, Watoto Children’s Choir), concerts from choirs and bands (Wellington Town Band, the Beaumaris Singers, the Hadley Orpheus choir, The Longslade consort, the John Moore Quire), theatre companies (Lacey Theatre Company, Saltmine Theatre Company), choir workshops (Geraldine Latty, Community Gospel Choir, Hallelujah Chorus from scratch), and 26 open mic nights! We have raised money for Children in Need, Amnesty International, Watoto, Tearfund, Open Doors and Compassion. We have enabled dozens of young musicians to develop their skills as performers and songwriters through the Open Mic nights and drawn hundreds of people from across the country to our concerts and worship events.
I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in All Saints Live over the last 3 1/2 years, particularly the army of loyal helpers who have turned out to set up, sell tickets, man merchandise stands, provide food and drinks, steward, count money, pack up, hoover, host performers, pray and generally keep the show on the road – we literally couldn’t have done it without you! I would also like to say a particularly big thankyou to Charles Marchbank, soundman extraordinaire, who has provided sound for all our big concerts and without whom it would all have been a lot quieter! Finally I would like to thank everyone who has come and performed at Open Mic over the last few years. I think the biggest highlight of my time here has been seeing you guys grow in confidence and ability and in many cases move on to bigger and better things – God has given you amazing talents, use them as much as you can!
All Saints is a brilliant space for live music, continue to use it for that and hopefully the legacy of All Saints Live will last well beyond the memory of it!
Richard

On Thursday December 2nd the Lacey Theatre Company are coming to All Saints to perform “Carol”, a humorous retelling of “A Christmas Carol”.
Starring Spring Harvest favourite Bob Hartman as a modern day scrooge, the story is a fantastical journey of discovery drawing on the Dickens Classic with a twist.
Hannah Awesome of Tearfund says “It’s a brilliant opportunity to see a fun, interactive performance which also challenges injustice and poverty. Tearfund are proud tobe involved”.
The production includes drama, animation and features music from our own Community Windband!
Tickets cost £7.50 or 4 for £25 and are available direct from Rich Clarkson (258132) or online at www.seetickets.com.
The show will be fun for all ages but might not be suitable for under 8s.
